Drinking game time! Post a picture of your car, and I’ll find you the best mod.

You can return the favor too. First person to say “LS swap” is going to find themselves surrounded by a gang of Miatas in a dark alley... Wait. No. That sounds awesome. Dammit...

I think there’s a kit online..? Looks like it’s just a couple bolts, should be easy!

Offroad tires is a good one! But... They’re all too big...

Rotary? Yes. Please. Ohhhhh I want to swap progressively crazier and crazier build ideas over a beer with you while the normals in their Corollas and RX’s looks on in horror at our Miata/Smart army knowing that somehow they’ve chosen poor life choices but are unable to escape the bland lifestyle that they are doomed to repeat for all eternity...

LOL. Mine suffered its first problem with 15 miles on the clock. The sliding door mechanism either broke or wasn’t property connected and the door was stuck open. Since then, though, it’s been fine (knock on wood).

Okay. I don’t know what your job is, but I always assumed you look exactly like your avatar which is to say 7ft tall, somewhat intimidating and built like a tank. So... I’m going to make a reasonable guess and say that you’re a blacksmith, with a speakeasy on the side.

As such, a man of your seasoned tastes will appreciate this fine live edge wood bar, which is ready to be welded into the back so you can stay refreshed on the job.

In all seriousness, I think it’s a great cargo vehicle. I’ve driven nearly every cargo van on the market (except the Sprinter) and it’s been better than all of them. I may do a Jalop review of it soon.

You’re thinking of it all wrong. It’s not for cooling the engine, it’s for heating up the air flowing over your windshield. This is a defrost mod.

So I am. *tosses hammer aside*

Was it the current generation or the last? At my previous job, we had the several of the first Transit Connect and they were the most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever seen. Only one made it to 200k and by that time the transmission was garbage and it wouldn’t stop overheating.

The last generation one would have been better with a different drivetrain. But it was too short; cargo areas should never be shorter than 6 feet. Both the first gen Transit Connect and the NV200 are too short to be really useful.

A few of our vendors got promasters when they first came out, including our Mopar dealership (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram/Fiat) parts supplier. The key vendor went through several that all had starting and electrical issues. The Mopar dealership had theirs all wrapped and everything and used it for a few months, and it spends more time sitting at the dealership - not sure if by choice or not - while they put a bedcap on a Ram 1500 that they’ve since been using for deliveries, as far as I see. They also use a promaster city but the driver despises the transmission, so she only uses it for short trips unless she can’t get her hands on the Ram. She liked the Caravan Cargo she drove before a lot better.

I wish the Transit had the option for the Super Duty’s 6.7L PowerStroke diesel. I know it’d have to look like a Nissan NV2500 to make it fit, but it’s such a good engine.

Obviously more power is cool, but if I wanted a ton of power I wouldn’t have bought a Miata. That being said have you seen the guy on YouTube who has a naturally aspirated Nb with 172hp to the wheels? I found it when was looking to see who was running itb’s on their miatas. So sick. I want itb’s so bad.

Yeah, the ProMaster City has that 9-speed that everyone seems to hate. The one I rented a while back seemed ok but was always searching for the right great and it was annoying.

One of my coworkers’ ProMaster is having some electrical issues at 50k. It seems to think that all of the turn signals and daytime running lights are out and it is constantly displaying warning messages about it, but they actually all work correctly. The turn signal indicators on the dash have completely lost their rhythm and sometimes don’t flash at all when the turn signals are on. When it’s parked and off, the turn signals will randomly flash.

I have a very similar issue. Also my alarm goes off any time you turn on the hazards and lock the doors.. Also sometimes it takes multiple starts to get it to stay on. You turn the key it fires up runs for 1 sec and shuts off. Repeat that until it decides it wants to stay on. The dealer has tried to resolve both issues but never figured it out.

Kinja'd!!! fhrblig > cbell04
03/18/2018 at 10:24

Kinja'd!!!0

That sucks. I really hope mine is reliable, because it works very well as a cargo van. I have the next length up from yours (but not the really long one) and it can handle huge loads. It drives pretty well for such a huge van. Crosswinds suck, but it does seem to handle them a bit better than the tall Nissan NV2500 I had to drive in high winds last year. Probably because the floor is so low.

The signal issue sounds like it could be a bad hazard switch. I had a problem with my old Alero that was similar and was fixed with a recall that replaced the hazard switch. Or it could be a wiring harness problem I guess. There’s a garage not far from our office that specializes in electric repairs so I think I’m going to suggest he try them.

Up to Friday none of them had any mechanical issues or breakdowns that left anyone stranded; it sounds like one of them may have grenaded its transmission. Not sure how many miles are on that one.

That sounds a lot like the issues our key vendor had with their batch. They’ve been gradually replacing them with Transits even though they’re not getting quite as good of deals on them as Dodge was offering. Less downtime and uncertainty, though, and the drivers say they don’t get as many people telling them their headlights are hitting their rearview mirrors as badly.

Our key vendor’s PM’s sliding door is wonky, too. It doesn’t stay open on its own even at the stops, and then doesn’t latch without a full-force slam.
